An interesting project, where the client wanted existing "tired", hard landscaping. replaced with reclaimed natural York stone used in several ways. A large new terrace and stepped area was created, leading onto a winding path set in gravel and edged with randomly cut bricks; this in turn led to a more formal path, and on to stepping stones cut into the lawn.
In addition a large, horseshoe shaped, patio to catch the evening sun, there was a small seating area adjacent to a setting of standing stones surrounded with a low growing ground cover. A great challenge for the contractors who, manually, moved approximately 100 tonnes of stone ! (C) Penny Underwood 2005 |
