Parterre Garden

In this project, the client wanted a somewhat random garden, transformed into a more formal setting. The chosen scheme is based on part of the garden at the Villa Lante in Italy, with a classically shaped "canal" dissecting two large parterre gardens.

Existing plantings were modified or removed and major new plantings undertaken. Due to very poor native soils, the sites of major planting were excavated and soils replaced with bespoke soil/compost mix to give the 5000 + new plantings the best possible conditions in which to grow.

Further significant, less formal, hard landscaping and plantings were undertaken throughout this large garden.
