Entrance to Japanese Style Garden

The Clients had recently returned from living in Japan and wanted an authentic Japanese Garden to include an onsen - outdoor hot tub. As is usual, three designs were suggested, one of which was chosen.

All the "hard" and plant materials were individually selected. The gateway was custom-made by a local craftsman to a traditional Japanese design; the grey clay roofing tiles were hand made to fit the gateway and the wall.  Looking through this gateway the peaceful garden beyond is framed and invites visitors into "this little piece of Japan".
